| History and Culture I am a native of the historical town of Cape Coast, which for several centuries up to 1876, was the administrative headquarters for the British in the Gold Coast. My interest about our proper history and culture was sparked reading an interesting story about the Portuguese envoy, Diogo d’Azambuja and Nana Kwamena Ansah, a Chief of Edina.
I have spoken about Akan history and culture on many occasions, most notably during the Black History Month in February 2004 at UMBC (University of Maryland Baltimore County) and Townson University. The main aim of my ongoing research work is to learn about and narrate the African side of history about the relationship with the Europeans and the infamous transatlantic slave trade.
